CPSA English Open Sporting 2024
What a superb start to our Major Championship season!
We’ve had a great week at Doveridge for the English Open Sporting, huge congratulations to High Gun Mark Winser for smashing through the course with an incredible 119 ex120.
Mark was closely followed by Billy Baughan on 118 and James Bradley-Day on 117. Terrific shooting from these gentlemen !
It was an amazing 5 days of shooting with some close competition throughout all classes and categories.

    I was told to shoot the rabbit in the “front legs”. It usually works but probably only because the speed is reduced a lot. If I shoot at it earlier I am having trouble getting the correct lead. But I am getting there. Thank you for your videos. You explain very well without getting too technical. Watching from Denmark.

    The look on his face at 3.17 when he shot the pair as if it's the first pair on stand 4 he's ever hit.

    Could have included more detail on hold points, lead, etc. I thought station 4 double could have done with a whole lesson on its own, as there are numerous ways to approach this. No mention of the best kill zone. The Shotcam images are good though.

    I am confused by what the young gentleman said. "Each stand will have one left, one right, and one relatively straight target." But also: "Two lefts, two rights, and one straight from each stand." Which is it? 1,1,1 or 2,2,1?

    • @funkla65
      @funkla65 5 місяців тому

      I believe the former description applied to the throwers - for each station there are three throwers, one throwing to the left, one relatively down the middle, and the third to the right. You need to shoot five targets at each station to complete the round of 25.

    Hi, is the price range still relevant for 2023 for someone looking for their first shotgun (asking from the US)? Also, more general question: if your nearest outdoor range is anywhere between 30 to 80 miles from your home, but an indoor range (no skeet or trap training) is within 5 to 10 miles away, do you recommend someone start with general indoor training to see if the interest for shooting is there? Would ultimately like to do clay shooting, but the distance may detract from interest.

    I like the rule about spent cases being retrieved and placed in the bin. I wish it would become a requirement on all shooting grounds. It’s infuriating when you enter a stand and some clown with a semi-auto has ejected cases all over the place and just left them where they’ve landed! Oh, and thank you for your video. Clear, concise and informative.

    Pretty much how we shoot sporting in Australia. Three traps per stand, each target shot as a single. Report or sim pairs must be a combination of any two of those targets. We shoot in squads of six, each shooter moves up the list to be first shooter moving from stand to stand and we shoot gun down only. Met Simon at Southdown Shooting School in 2017 and had some coaching with him. Nice guy and very helpful.

    The whole thing is a money game its stupid people like george made it into money it could be much more affordable as for the big gun thers no need for it so have the stand where it is for 12gauge then 10 yards in have it for 20gauge normall guns with very little recoil then 5 yrds in 4.10 this would make a lot of sence watch the normall guy or women shoot a twelve there banged about no need for it non of this was investigated please change it plus you have some good rich shooters but theres probably better poor shooters but your never know it would fun if you offered a 10 shot hard tarketts to people that didnt even owed a gun orpoor people people it would cost 6 bucks it would be fun to see ho could hit 8 or more youd be surprised it would be fun what would happen if someone shot 10
